✦ Why we chose it

Flexi invented retractable leashes and the flat tape design is genuinely safer than cord — this is the one to get if you want a retractable.

Flexi invented the retractable leash in 1972, and the Classic Tape remains the gold standard. The flat tape design is stronger than cord and less likely to cause rope burns. The one-hand brake and lock system gives you full control, and the ergonomic handle is comfortable for extended use. Available for dogs up to 110 lbs.

Pros

  • ✓Flat tape is safer than cord (no rope burns)
  • ✓26 ft gives real freedom
  • ✓One-hand control is intuitive

Cons

  • ✗Not recommended for leash-reactive dogs
  • ✗Can encourage pulling if not used correctly
